An alderman in the Town of Derby appeared in court Tuesday on charges related to his involvement in the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
Gino DiGiovanni, who is running for mayor of Derby, was seen on surveillance tape entering the Capitol building and holding the door to let rioters in.
The U.S. attorney's office says DiGiovvanni appeared before a U.S. magistrate judge in New Haven.
