A disabled woman says she was harassed and sprayed with hand sanitizer by a University Heights woman on the 4 train. She spoke about the incident with News 12.
Nadine Vasquez says the confrontation began when the woman squeezed onto a subway bench next to her when there was clearly not enough room.
"She didn't say, 'Excuse me, can you move over?' She threw herself on my arm," she said.
Vasquez has a torn ligament in her knee and a broken arm that has a metal rod implant.
She took a video of the incident, which shows a woman spraying hand sanitizer on her. In the video she asks: "Why are you spraying alcohol on me? I'm a disabled person."
Vasquez told News 12 that that the ordeal left her arm hurt and her eyes and lips burning. She filed a police report and is now afraid to take the subway.
She wants to spread awareness and for the woman to come forward and apologize. She also told News 12 that she's considering taking legal action.
