The District 28 state Senate race is heating up as Election Day nears.
Republican state Rep. Tony Hwang and Democratic state Rep. Kim Fawcett are trying to replace outgoing Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, who held the seat for 16 years.
District 28 includes Fairfield, Easton, Newtown and parts of Westport and Weston.
Hwang has the backing of McKinney. Hwang has served in the State House for six years and spent today meeting people at Hemlock Hardware, which is a family-owned business in town.
Fawcett has served for eight years. Fawcett says a woman has never held the seat.
