The New York City Department of Transportation is taking steps to repair potholes on City Island's Shore Road, which have been an ongoing concern for some residents.
Resident Tommy Breen say there is a clear and present danger, despite the agency's recent efforts. Breen says drivers have been dealing with issues on the road for years, like cones forcing motorists to swerve toward oncoming traffic and giant puddles of water turning to ice during the winter due to poor drainage.
The DOT started making repairs last Thursday.
"They think it's just another pothole and it's not, it's a serious problem," Breen says.
A DOT spokesperson said in a statement, "DOT is aware of community concerns along this stretch and is monitoring for needed repairs...if residents have further concerns they should reach out to 311 so the proper agency can respond."
