Drivers in Waterbury may soon see relief at the Route 8 and I-84 interchange, where the state DOT has announced plans for a major update.
Known as the Mixmaster, the area will be redesigned to unstack and modernize the highway connections.
Officials say the project will improve traffic flow between the two highways and on surrounding local roads.
The new highway is expected to last about 75 years.
