New Canaan resident Jen Benson is a double organ transplant recipient with a compromised immune system, so when she got COVID-19, doctors say her life was in danger.
The 42-year-old told News 12 she is very lucky to have pulled through after spending two weeks in isolation at Norwalk Hospital. Benson said it was a frightening experience for her to be alone.
Her doctors made an important point about how they say she was able to pull through in the end because she had followed the CDC-recommended three-shot vaccine regimen.
"I think the key thing that people need to understand right now is you're not fully protected unless you receive two doses and your booster," said Benson.
