About 50 people were dressed up in their best granny outfits for a fun event in Bridgeport.
The Downtown Bridgeport Granny Crawl was designed to generate business for local bars, restaurants and other popular spots.
Melissa DeLeon told News 12 she came up with the idea during a recent trip to New Orleans where she said locals were holding a similar event.
“When we tune in to social media, all we see is things reported negative about our city. And if we can bring awareness of great positive things being done in our city then I think it’s great,” DeLeon said. “I think we have a great downtown area. I think it’s awesome to be able to bring so many people together.”
DeLeon says the group was made up of mostly women, but it also included a few men.
The granny crawl is free and is known as being festive and 100% positive.
