A Milford woman with multiple sclerosis who says she was nearly beaten to death is fighting for justice in a rally Saturday.
In March, Wierzbicki says her neighbor, Russell Molleur, beat and strangled her inside of her home. Molleur was arrested, but recently accepted a plea deal which reduces his charges and carries a maximum sentence of up to two years.
Wierzbicki says she has trauma from her assault and lives in fear every day. She says her attacker needs to be behind bars for longer than two years.
Wierzbicki's brother, Tim McLaughlin, helped organize the rally to show the justice system the
public support this case is getting. He also started a petition to get the plea deal thrown out. So far, there are
14,000 signatures. The Milford Delegation of State Lawmakers sent a letter to the state's attorney questioning this plea deal and urging her to reconsider it.
Molleur will appear in court in Milford on Jan. 8.
