Wednesday's snow came down the hardest in the northern and western parts of New Jersey.
Residents were told to stay off roadways or to use caution if they had to travel.
The heavy, wet snow and freezing rain turned to ice on some major roadways as the nighttime temperatures dipped.
Crews have been working around the clock to clear the slush and snow off the roads. Warmer temperatures Thursday were expected to help clear some of the snow.
