A teenager is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after an early morning shooting on Spruce Street in Stamford, police say.
Stamford police say the shooting took place around 7:15 a.m. They are still searching for the suspect, and have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.
Unfortunately, many local residents were not surprised by the violence. ?This is the third incident since it? s gotten warm,? Michael Pellici says. ?They keep telling me that it?s getting better and I keep telling them I don?t see anything getting better.? Pellici lives down the street from where the victim was shot.
Lt. Sean Cooney says the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and one to the leg. He says the victim has not been cooperating with investigators.
Residents say there is a location where illegal gambling takes place close to where the shooting occurred. Cooney says this is something the department is looking into. He believes it is only a matter of time before an arrest is made.
Cooney says the victim isn't being charged with anything. There is no word yet on his condition.
The police department is asking for help from any witnesses. They ask people with any information to call the Stamford Police Department?s info line at (203) 354-INFO.
