With the first day of autumn here, apple orchards in southwestern Connecticut are now in their busiest season of the year.
Apple picking is in full swing at Silverman's Farm in Easton.
Owner Irv Silverman says the drought this year has made for a crop that's a bit of a Catch 22. He says the apples are smaller but they are sweeter because there's less water content in the apple, so the sugar content is more pronounced.

Aside from the apple picking, there's other activities including the new apple express, an animal farm and pumpkins.
