ESPN: Possible plan to keep CT Sun in the state would involve Connecticut purchasing minority share

The team would split its home games between Mohegan Sun Arena and PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford. The deal would need to be approved by the WNBA.

A new plan to keep the Connecticut Sun in the state would involve Connecticut buying a minority share of the team from the Mohegan tribe, ESPN reports.

The team would split its home games between Mohegan Sun Arena and PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford.

Connecticut would also build a new practice facility for the team.

The deal would need to be approved by the WNBA.

The league has already reportedly turned down separate deals that would have sold the team and moved it to Boston or Hartford.

"The Connecticut Sun have a loyal fan base here at a time when the WNBA is continuing to reach new heights. There's a reason we are the 'Basketball Capitol of the World'--UConn has the produced more WNBA stars than any college and our goal is to defend that claim by finding a way to keep the Sun stay in Connecticut with their fans," said Rob Blanchard, Gov. Ned Lamont's director of communications.
