Former Connecticut Republican minority leader and State Sen. Kevin Kelly is officially becoming a superior court judge.

Lawmakers approved his nomination Wednesday.

Kelly, who is a lawyer specializing in elder law, was reelected in the 2024 Connecticut State Senate election. However, he resigned his seat in January after accepting the state judicial appointment.

State Rep. Jason Perillo won a special election last month for Kelly's former seat in the state Senate.
