Federal regulators launched new rules for drone owners Monday.
The FAA is now requiring people to register all small, unmanned aircraft weighing more than half a pound.
Drone owners can register on the FAA website in a process that only takes a few minutes.
It costs $5 to register, but the FAA will waive that fee for anyone who registers in the next 30 days.
Airport officials say drones can pose dangers to people aboard manned flights, although they are already banned near airports and above 500 feet in the sky.
The FAA says even more new rules will take effect next year.
