Torrington police say Jose Simms turned himself in to Enfield police Wednesday morning one month after making a deal regarding Facebook likes on his mugshot.
Police say Simms, who has seven counts of failure to appear in court, called police and asked them to pick him up because he was wanted.
Police say he was also facing risk of injury charges for an apparent domestic dispute.
Simms posted a challenge that he would turn himself in if he got 15,000 likes on his Facebook wanted poster and negotiated with police about it. The post received 29,000 likes.
Police say the story received so much attention around the world that they were even hearing from people in Australia.
Simms is being held on bond. He’s due in court in Enfield Thursday and back in Torrington in two weeks.
