Preparations for the impending storm were in full swing at Hemlock Hardware in Fairfield on Saturday.
Many customers purchased items such as shovels, ice melt and driveway markers. The store received an emergency shipment of supplies on Friday.
"I think having such a long gap between snowstorms here – you kind of forget how much you need to prepare for this," says Timothy Beers, Hemlock's manager. "Making sure that we have all our supplies available because we don't want to be caught out with a slippery surface.
Beers recommends people should take care of their cars as well.
"Keep the brush in your car,” said Beers. “Make sure you have the extra windshield wiper fluid in your garage…be ready for every circumstance."
He said it isn't particularly about the amount of snow we'll get, but more so a refresher as to what is important to have on hand since it's been a while.
