John Whitney says he's "had it" with illegal dumping behind his Fairfield property.
He lives on Camden Street behind the I-95 Exit 25 on-ramp.
"Somebody is pulling over on the highway at night and dumping their contracting debris right behind my house. My home is not your dump," Whitney told News 12.
"I've been calling the Connecticut Department of Transportation for almost six months, but they're not responding or cleaning up the debris."
Whitney's property sits on the Ash Creek Tributary.
"If any property needs to be cleaned up, and better protected going forward, it's a property that sits on a protected wetlands, which mine does. This is a fragile ecosystem and it needs to be protected."
CT DOT issued a statement to News 12, but it did not address Whitney's complaint.
"Throwing or dumping garbage along state highways is illegal and creates safety hazards for drivers and our crews,” it said. “We encourage the public to notify us when they see issues like this so we can monitor and address them appropriately.”
