Neighbors were shocked after Fairfield police shot and killed a man who they say had attacked his family in their home on Mountain Laurel Road.
Police say 51-year Christopher Andrews attacked his wife, Kathleen, and their three children before going after an officer with a weapon. That officer shot and killed Andrews, a Manhattan attorney.
Police tell News 12 that the Andrews' daughter was actually able to escape the house and call 911. She, her mother and two brothers, remain in the hospital.
Neighbors say Andrews coached community sports, and that the family seemed to be happy.
Fairfield schools brought in crisis counselors on Tuesday.
Police say they had never been called out to the house before, and court records show there have not been any restraining or protective orders filed.
