Fairfield police say a deer is free this afternoon after getting caught in a soccer net at Fairfield University.
Police say they got a call about a deer needing help from a passerby yesterday.
They called in officers with the state DEEP to confer on how to free the animal.
Police say they tied a knife to a long pole so they could cut the buck free of the net, but also keep their distance.
They say the deer ran back into the woods and appeared to be OK.
