Fairfield police are announcing plans to install speed cameras near several schools to improve safety.
The cameras will be placed at Dwight, Burr and Riverfield elementary schools, as well as Ludlowe, Warde and Notre Dame high schools.
Officials say the cameras will operate 24/7 and enforce a reduced speed of 20 miles per hour during arrival and dismissal times.
More schools may be added in the future. A start date for the cameras has not yet been announced.
