Fairfield police are warning the public to be careful with their personal belongings after a man stole a woman's wallet at a Whole Foods store.
Police say a woman left her purse on the top of her shopping cart when she was shopping Tuesday afternoon.
Security video shows the man looking around and then taking the wallet out of her bag when she turns away. Police say the suspect then used the woman's credit cards illegally.
Fairfield police say that it is typical for people to pay less attention to purses and important items when shopping during the holiday season.
Some basic tips from police include keeping your purse on your arm while shopping or placing a personal bag in a shopping cart with groceries.
Police also suggest staying off of cellphones while in stores to stay focused and aware.
