It's been one year since Tropical Storm Irene made landfall over Connecticut and those residents who were hit hard by the storm say they now know how important insurance is in the wake of such a big storm.
Those living by the beach in Fairfield remembered how the storm surge left them with lots of damage, from broken boats and docks to homes being destroyed. Some structures still haven't been repaired yet and residents say a misunderstanding about insurance is what's left things broken.
Some residents say they're still waiting for the federal relief money they were promised.
