Amid the
confusion over SNAP benefits, The Seagrape Cafe in Fairfield is helping those impacted.
Owner Peter Collins organized a food drive Saturday to help residents who no longer have access to SNAP.
Over 30 bags of food and toiletries were collected, along with over $650 in gift cards and cash donations.
All proceeds will go to area food pantries.
People in Fairfield
can also donate non-perishable food items and grocery store gift cards in the lobby of Old Town Hall and both entrances of Sullivan Independence Hall in Fairfield Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Fairfield Social Services is also collecting Stop & Shop and ShopRite grocery gift cards and monetary donations to benefit those in need. Those donations can be dropped off or mailed to Fairfield Social Services located on Mona Terrace.
