A Fairfield elementary school is making plans to put solar panels on its roof.
The project at Mill Hill Elementary School is expected to generate about 10 percent of the school annual's electric cost, says Chris Thomas, a former student at the school and now parent who is helping the student council fund the project.
The project is expected to cost $150,000 if the funds can be raised.
