A big accomplishment for some local kids who competed in an international competition. For the first time ever, two teams from Fairfield are taking part in the Odyssey of the Mind competition.

Seven boys from Fairfield elementary schools, and seven girls from Fairfield middle schools will compete.

The teams held bake sales over the weekend to raise money for their trip to Iowa State University next month to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind world finals.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international program that teaches students to think creatively and collaboratively to solve unique problems.

At the state competition in March, both teams got the highest score in the spontaneous problem in their divisions.
