Stratfield IGA Supermarket is closing Wednesday, even with the overwhelming amount of community support.
The current owner says the landlord wants to turn the building into a Walgreens. The community, including First Selectman Ken Flatto says he is making a mistake. Many community members say they will not shop at the new Walgreens.
The store has been in Fairfield for 56 years and is staying open a few extra hours to accommodate the customers coming to say goodbye.
