A Fairfield teen is facing charges after Rhode Island authorities say he plotted to kill police officers on Block Island.
According to Rhode Island authorities, 19-year-old Ernesto Lacayo approached a police department with a loaded 12-gauge shotgun but was spotted by a state trooper. They say Lacayo fled and shot at officers seven times before running out of ammunition. Authorities apprehended Lacayo and found a backpack in his possession. Police say inside he had a ski mask, a knife and a notebook with the Fairfield Police Department's Web site and names of eight Fairfield officers.
Fairfield police say they arrested Lacayo in the past for minor violations. They also say they are taking the list of names very seriously.
Lacayo has been charged with seven counts of assault with intent to commit murder in connection with the Block Island incident.
