The Town of Fairfield is among one of the first in the area to start vaccinating those who are 75 and older starting Wednesday.
Health Director Sands Cleary says people 75 and older under phase 1B can now get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. To sign up for a vaccination, click here, then fill out a quick survey.
After that, you will be able to make an appointment. You don’t have to be a Fairfield resident.
Nancy Legare, 82, says it's been months since she's been able to visit her son and grandchildren in Florida - which is why she's been waiting to get the vaccine.
She has her first appointment Thursday. Legare spent many years volunteering at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities in town, so she knows how crucial their services are.
She hopes the center can reopen soon.
When asked if she's nervous to get vaccinated, she says she trusts science.
The state will also have its own registration portal for those 75 and older.
It should be active on Thursday.
