One new local business is opening in Fairfield despite many small businesses being forced to close during the coronavirus pandemic.
AV Sports Cards offers autographs by professional sports players on cards and other items.
Anthony Vinci opened AV Sports Cards as a way to showcase the superheroes of sports.
He says when he was younger, he went to Yankees spring training with his father and got Derek Jeter's autograph during his rookie year.
"That's one card that will stick with me forever," Vinci says.
He says that cards are booming and the prices on some of them have gotten crazy.
But Vinci says it's more than just a card store.
"I like to think of it as a little bit of a hall-of-fame kind of thing," Vinci says. "Where you come in and you're just surrounded by memorabilia and then stuff you don't see every day."
He says when it's safe to do so, Vinci hopes to feature high-profile athletes at his store.
Movie fans can also find memorabilia at the store.
