A husband and wife from Bridgeport are discussing their daughter's battle with leukemia.
Dan Vieira and Katrina Lage say they endured the most trying experience of their lives after their 18-month-old daughter, Lauren, was diagnosed with leukemia in February.
The family was at one point told that Lauren might only have two weeks to live, but she then rebounded in March.
The couple is now celebrating because Lauren is in remission after receiving care at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Though in remission, Lauren will have to undergo chemotherapy for the next two years.
A fundraiser for Lauren is being planned by the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton. It will be held on June 7, with all proceeds going toward children battling pediatric cancer.
