The family of Bridgeport murder victim Tyeshon King spoke with News 12 on Saturday – saying that he was an "awesome father."
King's 8-year-old daughter Jayda says her father's death is the most painful experience of her life.
"We saw cops flying down and then that's when one of his friends came over knocking on the door, saying he got shot and he was rushed to the hospital,” she said.
"It was really hard for me because now it's a big change in my life,” said Jayda. "I should cry right now but I'm going to be strong, like my dad always told me to."
Jayda and her brother, 9-year-old Tyce, recently made Valentine's Day cards for their dad. Jayda wrote that she loved her father and thanked him for everything he did for her and her family.
Jayda also says she wants to become a police officer to keep the community safe and pay tribute to her father.
Joe Grits, a long-time family friend, is urging the community to show support for all of King’s children.
"Pray for this family. Pray for his children," he said.
