A man held his wife and four children hostage for several hours Monday evening.
Authorities surrounded a three-family home on Hudson Street around 6 p.m. Police say they were able to get the spouse and children out of the home safely around 9 p.m.
Police were not sure if the suspect is armed or not, but say the situation was treated as if he was. Residents nearby were evacuated and police closed off several blocks around the home.
Neighbors describe the suspect as unhinged.
"He's a loose cannon," says Adrian Arroy. "It's just a weird person to deal with."
