The new year brought changes for some Metro-North passengers, as the Department of Transportation increased fares for the New Haven Rail line and CT Transit buses.
The DOT says the 4 percent increase is the first in seven years, and the higher rates are to help pay for new trains being brought into service. Riders say they're frustrated because it means having to pay a lot more, especially for those who commute for work.
Powerball prices are also set to increase on Jan. 15, with tickets now costing $2 instead of $1.
