The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is keeping a close eye on Connecticut in light of the recent E. coli outbreak in nearby states.
Emergency room doctors at Norwalk Hospital say they are fielding more calls about E. coli, but they currently are not treating anyone for it. The recent calls and inquiries about the bacteria started after nearly 50 people in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were diagnosed with E. coli after eating Taco Bell. The restaurant has since removed green onions from 6,000 restaurants across the U.S.Norwalk doctors are encouraging residents to be cautious, but not to jump to any conclusions if they simply do not feel well. E. coli symptoms include high fever, diarrhea and severe cramping and could take up to eight days to appear.
