On Wednesday afternoon at City Hall, Mayor Bill De Blasio and FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro presided over the department's 147th annual medal day ceremony.
Sixty-seven people were honored for their resilience and courage in risking their lives to keep fellow New Yorkers safe.
Officials also urged those in attendance to never forget the 9/11 attacks and remember those who are still recovering from their efforts at Ground Zero.
