The size of the Bridgeport Police Department will soon grow due to a federal grant.
The department will add 20 new officers thanks to $5 million from the government. That money will also be used to train the new officers and pay their salaries for three years.
The New Haven and Hartford police departments will also receive grant money.
$1 billion has been made available nationwide for police departments looking to hire new officers.
