Fire at Bridgeport apartment building displaces families
Officials in Bridgeport say a fire ripped through a housing complex in the north end of the city this morning, displacing several families.
It happened at the Second Stone Ridge Co-op.
The fire ripped through a household, destroying it and heavily damaging several others.
According to authorities, the first call came in to 911 today around 10:25 a.m., reporting unit number four was on fire.
Officials say the household was gutted and the family living there, including an elderly woman, now have no place to call home.
The Red Cross is working to get them temporary shelter.
Officials say the fire heavily damaged at least two other units in this co-op, which residents own individually.
No one was seriously hurt, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
