Fire displaces several families on Crotona Avenue

Residents said it started at 2166 Crotona Ave. and spread to a neighboring building.

A fire broke out jus before midnight in Belmont at 2166 Crotona Ave. leaving seven families without homes.

The FDNY confirms no one was injured, what caused the fire remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross confirms it is assisting seven families with financial aid and hotel stays and that a total of 34 people are displaced including 19 children.

The fire happened about half a mile away from the deadly fire at 660 E 187 St. in Belmont on Tuesday that killed two people.
