? With summer around the corner, many Connecticut residents are lighting up their grills. Fire officials want to make sure safety comes first.
Norwalk Fire Marshal Glenn Iannaccone says charcoal grills should be lighted with brickets that come with fluid in them, or use a minimal amount of lighter fluid. Iannaccone also advises grillers check that propane tanks are properly secured to gas grills.
Professional chefs say some of the most important tips are to stay alert and stand back from grills.
