Area firefighters were busy Sunday training and learning how to use new equipment.
More than two dozen firefighters made their way to the Weston Intermediate School, filling 3,000-gallon tankers with water from hydrants a few miles away from the school. They then pumped the water out of the tanks to a mock fire, ensuring the tanks stayed full.
In Weston and nearby towns, crews must bring in water when putting out a fire, instead of relying on hydrants.
Firefighters say the goal of the training was to improve how they get water to a fire and how they maintain their water supply. They also tested out a new radio system on a large scale for the first time.
Members of fire departments in New Canaan, Georgetown and Redding were also a part of the training.
