Special counseling sessions continued this afternoon for the Stamford firefighters who fought the fatal Christmas morning fire.
Members of the New York City Fire Department's' Counseling Service Unit came to Stamford, many of whom were involved in the Sept. 11 rescue efforts.
Stamford Fire Capt. Paul Newman says the special counseling sessions are critically important to the mental well-being of the firefighters who took part in the Christmas Day fire rescue effort.
Officials say that nothing in the firefighters' experiences could prepare them for the morbid scene.
Newman says that any public servant involved in the fire can contact the city for counseling services.
