Firefighters rescue man from Housatonic River

Firefighters say that there are several rope swings along the side of the river where a lot of teens and young adults spend time during the summer.

A man was rescued from the Housatonic River on Sunday.
Firefighters say that there are several rope swings along the side of the river where a lot of teens and young adults spend time during the summer.
The call came in around 2:30 p.m. Sunday saying a man in his 20s fell off the rope swing and hit his head on rocks.
It took about 15 first responders to get to the victim and help get him up the river bank. They had to temporarily shut down service on a Metro-North line during the rescue.
There is no update on the victims’ condition yet. News 12 was told he was conscious when first responders arrived and was transported to the hospital with head and leg Injuries.
