A Bridgeport woman has “never been happier” after a local nonprofit helped her become a first-time homeowner.

Marnie DuPree Nelson applauded Building Neighborhoods Together for turning her “financial life around” and helping rebuild her credit.

“They're an amazing nonprofit that gets the job done, always," she said.

DuPree Nelson bought a single-family cape-style home in the Mill Hill section of Bridgeport.

"I was able to do it thanks to all of the free classes and counseling I had through BNT," she said.

BNT will hold its annual fundraising gala on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Waterview in Monroe.
