At least one person is dead following a fatal plane crash in New Milford.

It happened today around 9:17 a.m. at Candlelight Farms Airport along Green Pond Road and Border Lane in New Milford.

According to police, this was a student flight with three people on board. Police say the person who died at the scene was the instructor and a woman suffered "very critical" injuries.

The FAA says the Cessna took off this morning from Danbury Airport and was landing at Candlelight Farms when the crash happened.

Authorities actually found out about the crash when one of the victims walked to a nearby house, where the owner called 911.

News 12 Connecticut asked if the victim was able to give investigators clues.

"No, he was severely disoriented," says Sgt. Lee Grabner. "All he could say was that he was in a plane crash, is all he could really articulate to us."

The plane is registered to Arrow Aviation, the same company that owned the plane that went down in Danbury just two weeks ago. An attorney from Redding was killed in that crash.

In response to the crash, Sen. Richard Blumenthal issued a statement saying, "I am alarmed by the number of small plane crashes that have claimed lives in recent months and years in Connecticut. I urge the NTSB to complete its investigation quickly and thoroughly so we can determine whether action may be warranted to strengthen safety measures for small aircraft."

The FAA is investigating and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will determine the probable cause of the accident.
