Many formerly homeless Bronx and city families placed in city-funded housing face immediate danger in their new homes, says an advocacy group.

The Coalition for the Homeless released its findings Thursday about the city's Housing Stability Plus program. The organization, which analyzed 1,893 buildings where 2,850 families were placed, says it found more than 1,000 families were placed in apartments with hazardous violations. Those hazards include lead paint, mold, broken windows, collapsed ceilings, poor electrical wiring, inadequate heat and a lack of hot water.

The coalition is calling on the city to better inspect housing before placing families and to hold landlords accountable.
