Consumers who think they may have done all they can to protect themselves against identity theft may be overlooking one key thing ? freezing their credit reports.
According to Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, freezing your credit report is the best way to prevent anyone from opening credit in your name.
The charge for the credit freeze is $10 per credit agency. To freeze all three credit agencies, it will cost you $30. You may remove the freeze at any time. If you are interested in freezing your credit report call one of the three credit agencies.
