Ganim: Bridgeport police will begin using drones when responding to emergencies

Ganim tells News 12 the department is working with a company called Flock Safety Group, who pioneered the use of drones to help keep communities safe.
Ganim says the fully automated self-launching drones are equipped with night vision and are able to arrive at emergencies before first responders are.
They also have the capability to feed live video to police on the ground.
"It's a use of drones, technology, advanced technology, that we can incorporate with our police department and first responders to be first on the scene and actually be eyes and ears before our officers or even first responders even get there," he says.
Ganim got the idea for the department to use drones after attending a law enforcement summit in Chicago. He says the technology has already helped save lives nationwide.
