Ganim kicks off busy primary day
After crisscrossing the state last week, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim is hoping to win the Democratic gubernatorial primary.
Polls closed at 8 p.m.
He's headquartered at Testo's Restaurant, the same place he was three years ago when he shocked Bill Finch to win a mayoral primary despite an earlier criminal conviction.
This year, he's hoping for another upset — this time over Ned Lamont, who has the party's official endorsement.
Ganim kicked off the day by voting early at the Bridgeport Aquaculture School. He also made stops in some of the biggest cities in the state, including Hartford, New Britain, New London and Waterbury.
He made a radio appearance on WPLR with Chaz and AJ and later stopped in Easton, where his parents live.
"We can do better," Ganim says. "Connecticut will be a better place."
He says he's the right candidate for families struggling to make ends meet and people aiming to improve their quality of life.
To accomplish that, he says, he needs votes.
