Local gas stations are offering deals and steals in order to grab residents? business, like cash discounts and gas cards.
Some local stations are now offering $500 gas cards if residents sign up for mortgages with a particular company. Others offer discounts per gallon if drivers pay with cash. Some gas stations are also helping those paying with credit cards to save money.
According to Mike Fox, of the Gas and Auto Service Dealers Association, profits for gas stations dropped almost 60 percent due to the hike in gas prices over the summer, so now, stations are trying whatever they can to bring in business.
Fox predicts that even more stations will offer cash discounts once Exxon Mobil installs the proper equipment at its southwestern Connecticut stations.
