Get out on an adventure on CT Trails Day

The Connecticut Forest & Park Association is the state's oldest conservation groups, founded in 1895. It's130 years old and they manage over 800 miles of trails in the state.

Join the largest celebration of trails in the nation by getting out on an adventure.

The Connecticut Forest & Park Association organizes CT Trails Day on the first weekend of June. Over 200 outings will be hosted.

The Haddam Land Trust is one of the many organizations participating in CT Trails Day, which is part of a national event. They will host a hike at Beaver Ledges, land they acquired in 2017. News 12 photojournalist Lori Golias ventured out on the 136 acres preserve with Naturalist Mark Fowler of the Explorers Club.

Coordinator Chuck Toal is excited for the annual event and hopes it inspires everyone to get out and explore.

"Getting out for a hike is good for everybody. It's great for our families. It's great for exercise, it keeps us fit and in good shape. Obviously, our forests do a lot for us, they filter our water. They protect our wildlife they provide relief from everyday life. In Connecticut, there's a trail close to most everybody within 15 minutes."
